Welcome To Canfest 2012

Canfest 2012 begins June 30, 2012
Canfest 2012 begins June 30, 2012

Port Stanley is now into its sixth year of celebrating Canada Day in a big way - after all, what better place can you think of to celebrate our national day than on the prettiest beach on the north shore of Lake Erie, in the beautiful summer sunshine!

This year we're doing it with a two-day festival featuring a dazzling Canada Day fireworks display on main beach at 10:00 p.m. brought to you through the generous support of Canadian Heritage, live music on two stages, live theatre, a Canada Day Veterans March and garden party, a Boat Parade, a Kid's Treasure Hunt, face painting, pleine air artists, contests, merchant specials and so much more, to make this the most memorable weekend of your summer.

New this year is Farmtown Canada - a petting zoo from the Aylmer area that will be set up on the west pier and also offering destination carriage rides (ie: a horse-drawn taxi).

Want to try something really fun? We're holding a FREE Laughter Yoga session on Sunday afternoon, right downtown in cenotaph park in front of the Legion; followed by ZUMBA ~ a Latin dance class!

Don't miss the Port Stanley Volunteer Fire Fighters Association Smoke on the Water 3 antique car, truck, motorcycle and fire apparatus show on Saturday ~ on the East Pier, right next to the harbour!

There is also a scrumptious fish fry at the Legion on Saturday June 30th from 4 - 6 p.m. and a Strawberry Social supper at the Port Stanley United Church from 5 - 7 p.m. on July 1st.

Train Rides

Train Rides
The Port Stanley Terminal Rail, formerly the historic London & Port Stanley Railroad (L&:PS) will be running daily afternoon trains throughout the festival. Take a ride along a scenic track in their wonderful, open-air passenger cars.

Great Music, Great Theatre, and Great Events

Live Music
On both days of our festival, June 30th and July 1st, we are featuring live outdoor music concerts in a variety of genres at stages in Glover Park, Cenotaph Park, GT's Main Stage and other local establishments.

Live Theatre
Port Stanley Festval Theatre June 30th: two performances of "Dating By The Book" - an earthy comedy about a determined and desperate divorcée's trials and tribulations as she attempts a smooth re-entry into the world of romance ... combining to create a night she will never forget!

Boat Parade
On Sunday afternoon, July 1st at 2:00 p.m., Port Stanley's unique and famous Boat Parade returns to celebrate the importance of water and boating in Port Stanley. This judged contest was a huge hit with spectators for the last two years and this year promises to be even bigger!
