Welcome To Canfest 2011

Canfest 2011 begins July 1, 2011
Canfest 2011 begins July 1, 2011

Port Stanley is now into its fifth year of celebrating Canada Day in a big way - after all, what better place can you think of to celebrate our national day than on the prettiest beach on the north shore of Lake Erie, in the beautiful summer sunshine!

This year we're doing it with a three day festival featuring a dazzling Canada Day fireworks display on main beach at 10:00 p.m. brought to you through the generous support of Canadian Heritage, live music on two stages, live theatre, a Canada Day Veterans parade and garden party, a Boat Parade, a Kid's Treasure Hunt, Sand Sculpture competition, live auction, face painting, pleine air artists, an evening outdoor jazz barbeque, contests, merchant specials and so much more, to make this the most memorable weekend of your summer.

New this year is the Sand Sculpting for Sally sand sculpture contest on main beach, on Saturday afternoon, with the proceeds going towards literacy programs for Thames Valley Distict School Board, in memory of Sally Cummings.

Want to try something really fun? We're holding a FREE Laughter Yoga session on Saturday afternoon, right downtown in cenotaph park in front of the Legion.

Don't miss the Rocky's Harley Davidson Show & Shine Bike Show on Saturday or the Volunteer Fire Fighters Association Smoke on the Water 2 antique car, truck, motorcycle and fire apparatus show on Sunday ~ both on the East Pier, right next to the harbour!

There is also a Strawberry Social supper on July 2nd (changed from July 1st), a huge live auction and community wide yard sales on July 2nd; and Temporary Tattoo Sales, Dotsy the Clown Face Painting, and snow cones and cotton candy available all weekend long.

Train Rides

Train Rides
The Port Stanley Terminal Rail, formerly the historic London & Port Stanley Railroad (L&:PS) will be running daily afternoon trains throughout the festival. Take a ride along a scenic track in their wonderful, open-air passenger cars.

Great Music, Great Theatre, and Great Events

Live Music
From July 1st right through July 3rd we will be featuring live outdoor music concerts in a variety of genres on two stages - one downtown in Glover Park and the other on the beach at GT's 2nd stage. As well, many local establishments will also be featuring live entertainment throughout the weekend.

Live Theatre
Port Stanley Festval Theatre July 1st & 2nd performances of "Boeing Boeing" - a sparkling comedy about a young man with three fiancées working for different airlines, nerves of steel and a finely tuned schedule until all three girls are grounded ... High flying comedy at its best!

Boat Parade
On Sunday afternoon, July 3rd, Port Stanley's unique and famous Boat Parade returns to celebrate the importance of water and boating in Port Stanley. This judged contest was a huge hit with spectators in 2010 and this year promises to be even bigger!

Weekend Activities
